Karaoke night software where the rotation runs itself

Contender OS Karaoke Night is self-serve: singers sign up from their phones, the rotation keeps turns fair and moving, and nobody on staff works the list.

What it is

Every karaoke night has the same bottleneck: one person guarding a signup sheet, fielding 'when am I up?' all night. Contender OS replaces the sheet with a self-serve rotation. Singers sign up and check in from their phones, the system seeds the mic stand from your mic count, works a fair rotation with priority for new singers, calls the on-deck singer, and keeps the queue honest until last call — with a simple attendant override only as a fallback.

How the night runs

STEPSingers sign up from their phonesRequests go in from the table — song, singer, done. Check-in opens the night's list.
STEPThe night opens itselfWith the minimum singers checked in, the rotation seeds from your mic count and the first singer is called.
STEPThe rotation runs itselfTurns advance on a fair rotation; the on-deck singer gets the call, and the queue re-orders itself as songs finish and new requests land.
STEPLast call winds it downThe system manages the end of the night — no new requests past last call, and the list closes out cleanly.

What's built in

  • Phone signups and check-in — no paper list, no line at the KJ table.
  • Self-running rotation — a fair turn order that balances new singers and regulars instead of first-come chaos.
  • On-deck calls — the next singer is called ahead, so changeovers stay tight and dead air stays short.
  • Mic tracking — the system knows how many mics you run and sequences the stand around them.
  • Explicit-content policy by the clock — family-friendly early, open later, per your settings.
  • Singer history — singers build a history across nights, so regulars get recognized and favorites come back.

Who it's for

Built for bars, breweries, and restaurants running karaoke weekly — anywhere the night depends on a KJ working a list instead of the room enjoying itself.

Questions

How does self-serve karaoke work without someone running the list?

Singers sign up and check in from their phones. The system builds the rotation from your mic count, orders turns fairly, calls the on-deck singer, and advances the night on its own. An attendant can step in with a simple advance control if the room ever needs it.

What does it cost?

Contender OS is $99/mo per venue for the full system, or $59/mo locked for 12 months on the Founding Operator rate with your first season free. Season passes run $149 for 6 weeks or $249 for 12 weeks, and the brackets-only Bracket Box tier is $39/mo. One flat price per venue — no per-player fees on the monthly plans.

What does my venue need?

Your existing karaoke setup — your sound system, mics, and song catalog — plus a screen for the queue and Wi-Fi. Contender OS runs the signup list and rotation around the catalog you already use.

How does a karaoke night run?

Singers check in from their phones and put songs in. When enough singers are in, the night opens, the rotation starts, and the system calls singers in turn until last call — then it closes the list out on schedule.
